Engaging Students in Cybersecurity: Focus Group at Surrey Maths School

We recently had the incredible opportunity to host a focus group at Surrey Maths School, where students tested our first game prototype, Network Shield! This session marked a significant milestone in our mission to inspire the next generation of tech professionals through gamified learning experiences.

The focus group provided students with a hands-on experience of the Network Shield game, designed to introduce them to the fascinating world of cybersecurity. The interactive gameplay allowed them to explore key concepts while developing practical skills in a fun and engaging way.

Following the session, students were encouraged to spend time independently playing the game, evaluating its design, engagement level, and educational value. Their feedback has been invaluable in helping us refine and improve the game for future iterations.

This initiative goes beyond creating an engaging educational tool. It’s about addressing a pressing challenge: the significant shortage of digital talent in today’s workforce. By sparking interest in high-demand digital careers through innovative gameplay, we aim to inspire future innovators and problem solvers, seeding the pipeline for the tech industry’s next generation.

Building on the success of this focus group, we’re excited to announce the launch of a beta testing program with other schools in early 2025! This program will provide further opportunities to enhance the game’s educational value while reaching more students and educators.
